Gold chains worth Rs 18.25 lakh seized at airport

Gold worth over Rs 18 lakh was seized from a passenger while he was allegedly trying to smuggle it at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here today.

The passenger, identified as Kapil Ramlal, was intercepted by Customs officials on his arrival at the airport at around 4 AM by a flight from Sharjah, a release issued by Customs said.

Gold chains weighing about 640 gms valued at Rs 18.25 lakh were seized from him, it said.

The passenger has not been arrested.
