Gold prices fell by 0.40 per cent to Rs 26,860 per 10 grams in futures trading today as speculators trimmed positions amid weak global cues.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in April declined by Rs 107, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 26,860 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 28 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in February shed Rs 87, or 0.33 per cent, to Rs 26,613 per 10 grams in 4,344 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in gold futures to weak global trends and subdued demand from jewellers at domestic spot markets.

Globally, gold fell 0.23 per cent to USD 1,180.20 an ounce in London.
