Gold futures traded lower by Rs 11 at Rs 38,170 per 10 gram on Friday on reducing positions by participants in tandem with fall in prices of the precious metal overseas.

Gold for December delivery traded lower by Rs 11, or 0.03 per cent, at Rs 38,170 per 10 gm in 1,474 lots.

Similarly, gold for delivery in February next year fell by Rs 22, or 0.06 per cent, to Rs 38,430 per 10 gram in 92 lots.

Analysts said the precious metal lost safe-haven appeal on hopes of a trade deal between the US and China.

Globally, gold prices dipped 0.02 per cent to USD 1,500.60 an ounce in New York.
