Gold prices eased by 0.21 per cent to Rs 26,941 per 10 grams in futures market today as speculators offloaded their positions even as metal rose in overseas markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in February fell by Rs 57, or 0.21 per cent, to Rs 26,941 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 4,420 lots.

Similarly, the yellow metal for delivery in far-month April lost Rs 25, or 0.09 per cent, to Rs 27,182 per 10 grams in 48 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in gold futures was mostly due to trimming of positions by speculators despite a firming trend in global markets.

Meanwhile, gold in London was up by 0.17 per cent to USD 1,196.20 an ounce.
