Tracking weak trend overseas, gold prices declined by 0.41 per cent to Rs 26,785 per ten grams in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in August contract was trading Rs 109, or 0.41 per cent, lower at Rs 26,785 per ten grams in business turnover of 6186 lots.

Likewise, the yellow metal for delivery in October shed Rs 99, or 0.36 per cent to Rs 27,028 per 10 grams in 161 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in gold futures to a weak global trend as the dollar strengthened, reducing demand for the precious metals.

Meanwhile, gold slid 0.6 per cent to USD 1,174.72 an ounce in London.
