Gold prices moved up by 0.49 per cent to Rs 30,045 per 10 grams in futures trade today as speculators raised their bets, tracking a firm trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in far-month December rose by Rs 146, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 30,045 per 10 grams, in a business turnover of 66 lots.

Similarly, the yellow metal for delivery in October went up by Rs 121, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 29,866 per 10 grams in 4,411 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in gold prices in futures to fresh positions built up by participants in tandem with a firm trend overseas.

Globally, gold rose 0.38 per cent to USD 1,325.80 an ounce in New York.
