Gold futures slide 0.23% on global cues

Gold prices moved down by 0.23 per cent to Rs 28,925 per 10 grams in futures trading today as speculators trimmed positions in evening session, tracking a weak trend overseas.

The exchange remained closed in the morning session for 'Maharashtra Day'.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in far-month August fell by Rs 66, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 28,925 per 10 grams, in a business turnover of 36 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in June traded lower by Rs 61, or 0.21 per cent, to Rs 28,812 per 10 grams in 621 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in gold prices at futures trade to a weak trend overseas.
 

Globally, gold fell 0.35 per cent to USD 1,263.20 an ounce in London.
