Gold futures slide on subdued global cues

Gold prices on Friday fell by Rs 14 to Rs 40,337 per 10 gram in futures trade as participants cut down their positions in line with a weak trend overseas.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold prices for delivery in April fell by Rs 14, or 0.03 per cent, to Rs 40,337 per 10 gram in a business turnover of 1,683 lots.

The yellow metal for June delivery slumped by Rs 21, or 0.05 per cent, to Rs 40,330 per 10 gram in 1,692 lots.

Analysts said subdued overseas cues influenced sentiments here.

Globally, gold was trading 0.13 per cent lower at USD 1,567.90 an ounce in New York.
