Gold for delivery in far-month June rose by Rs 103, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 29,332 per 10 grams, in a business turnover of 350 lots.
Analysts said speculators widened their bets, tracking a firming global trend as demand for the safe haven asset picked up as continued geo-political tensions boosted the metal's appeal.
Globally, gold surged 0.99 per cent to USD 1,286.60 in New York yesterday.
