Gold futures spurt Rs 89 on global cues

Gold rose by Rs 89 to Rs 29,990 per 10 grams in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firming trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in December spurted Rs 89, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 29,990 per 10 grams, in a business turnover of 657 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month February next year was also trading higher by Rs 79, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 30,111 per 10 grams in 28 lots.

Market analysts said speculators widened their bets backed up a firming global trend which influenced gold futures here.
 

Globally, gold climbed 0.53 per cent to USD 1,268.90 an ounce in New York.
