Gold prices rose by Rs 39 to Rs 29,206 per 10 grams in futures trade today on speculative buying amid a firming global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the October contract of the metal rose by Rs 39 or 0.13 per cent to Rs 29,206 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 713 lots.

The far-month December contract was trading higher by Rs 28 or 0.10 per cent to Rs 29,315 per 10 grams in 2 lots.

Analysts said a firming trend in global markets as a weaker dollar boosted demand for the safe-haven investment, influenced gold at futures trade here.

Globally, gold surged 0.23 per cent to USD 1,293.80 an ounce in Singapore.
