Gold jewellery worth Rs 7 lakh looted

Unidentified criminals today looted gold jewellery worth Rs 7 lakh and Rs 3000 in cash from a person here in Bihar's East Champaran district, the police said.

A man who had applied for gold loan with a nationalised bank was going to a jewellery shop with a bank guard for authentication of the gold jewellery.

The man, Punyadeo, was on his motorcycle with his wife and daughter while the bank guard was on a rickshaw. As he reached near the jewellery shop, two criminals waiting there on a motorcycle attacked them and fled after snatching the bag containing the jewellery from the hands of his daughter, the police said.
 

The bag also contained Rs 3000 cash.

Police have registered a case and investigating the matter, he added.
