Two city-based retail jewellers have allegedly duped a group of wholesalers of nearly Rs 15 crore as they were absconding after failing to pay for the purchase of ornaments in the last three months, police said today.
In a complaint lodged with the City Police Commissioner, the wholesale jewellers claimed that two brothers, running three outlets in the city, used to purchase gold ornaments in bulk and pay after some time.
However, the shops were found closed for the last two months and the owners' whereabouts unknown, they said and appealed to the police to bring them to book and retrieve their jewels, police said.
