Gold ornaments, cash stolen from cop's house

Unidentified persons were booked for allegedly stealing cash, gold ornaments worth Rs 6.5 lakh from the residence of Additional Superintendent of Police of Jalgaon, at Kaulane village here, police said today.

The incident took place last night at additional SP Prashant Bacchav's parental house in Kaulane, nearly 10-km from here, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ajit Hagvane said.

The thieves first opened the lock of the main door of the house and then decamped with cash, gold and silver jewellery valuing nearly Rs 6.5 lakh.

The officer's father and mother looked after their farming in the village.

Soon after getting the information, a police team along with a dog squad was sent to the spot, Hagvane said, adding that a case has been registered and further probe into the matter was on.
