Gold ornaments weighing about 34.350 kgs and worth more thanRs 11 crore were seized from six passengers of aprivate bus in the district early today.
Acting on a tip off, a team of excise department sleuths intercepted the bus, proceeding to Perinthalmanna in Malappuram district at 4.45 AM at Tholpetti check post, an excise official said.
During the search, the gold ornaments worth more than Rs 11 crore were found concealed in four bags, an excise official said.
The six passengers, all natives of Rajasthan have been handed over to sales tax officials in this connection, he said adding further investigation is on.
