Over three kilograms of gold and 12
kg of saffron were today seized from two different persons at the Karippur International Airport, official sources said.
In the first incident, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials seized two-and-a-half kg of gold valued approximately at Rs 75 lakh from one Abdul Shameer of Thrissur when he arrived by an Air India Dubai-Calicut flight.

The passenger had concealed the gold in an electric kettle, they said.
In the other incident, 12 kg of saffron valued at Rs 15 lakh and 585 grams of gold valued at Rs 15 lakh were seized from Jaffer of Kannur district when he arrived by an Emirates Dubai-Calicut flight, sources said, adding, both have been taken into custody for questioning.
