Gold, silver drop on subdued demand, global cues

Silver also witnessed heavy speculative sell-off amid lower industrial off-take.

Standard gold (99.5 purity) fell by Rs 195 per 10 gm to close at Rs 30,745 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 30,940.

Pure gold (99.9 purity) also slid Rs 190 per 10 gms to to conclude at Rs 30,885 from Rs 31,075.

Silver ready (.999 fineness) slumped by Rs 660 per kg to finish at Rs 60,190 as compared to Rs 60,850 previously.

In Europe, gold dipped on dealers profit-taking amid strong dollar ahead of closely watched US job data.

Spot gold was bid lower at USD 1,709.26 an ounce in early trade and silver was bid down at USD 32.01 an ounce.
