Gold, silver valued at Rs 1.23 crore seized

Air customs officers have seized four kg of gold and one kg of silver totally valued at Rs 1.23 crore in 16 separate cases from passengers who arrived at the International airport here.

The seizure was during this month.

Air Intelligence unit seized 707 grams of gold from a man hailing from kozhikode who arrived from bahrain on February six.

The gold was found concelaed in the form of 8 flat pieces inside the layers of a tava which was part of his baggage.

The man's arrest was recorded today and he was later released, a press release said.

The gold recovered was valued at Rs 22.17 lakh.
 

Besides, 3268.68 gms of gold and one kg of silver, totally valued at Rs around rs one crore was also seized in 15 separate cases, at the Cochin International Airport, Nedumbassery, from February 13-20.
