Gold worth over Rs 1 crore seized at Chennai airport

Gold worth Rs 1.05 crore was seized from a passenger who arrived at the airport here from Muscat, Officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) said.

Acting on a tip off, the officials apprehended Vattakkady Jabir, a native of Kerala, who was found hiding the yellow metal in a cellphone.

He was later handed over to airport police who arrested him, the DRI officials said.
