Gold worth Rs 1.30 crore looted from jewellery shop

In daylight robbery, two unidentified men robbed a jewellery shop of gold and cash collectively valued at Rs 1.31 crore after injuring the shop-owner with sharp objects at suburban Malad, police said today.

According to police, the robbers, with their faces covered by handkerchiefs, barged into the shop Rajashri Jewellers at about 9.15 AM.

Additional Police Commissioner Brijesh Singh said the victim was tied and his hand injured with sharp objects after being threatened by the accused.

The robbers, who came on foot, laid hands on whatever jewellery they could find before fleeing from the spot, he added.

According to the FIR filed at Malad police station, gold jewellery worth Rs 1.30 crore while cash of Rs one lakh was taken away by the accused.
 

An employee of the shop, who entered the shop after a while, saw Rathod tied, police said adding the victim was untied and rushed to nearby Siddharth Hospital and at the same time police were notified.

All the check points were alerted and a manhunt has been launched to track the robbers, police said.
