Gold worth Rs 10.98 lakh seized from passenger at Hyd airport

Customs officials today seized 363 grams of gold of foreign origin valued at Rs 10.98 lakh from a passenger at the international airport here.

Based on profiling of passengers, the Customs Officers of the Air Intelligence Unit intercepted the passenger who arrived from Jeddah here this afternoon, a Customs official said.

The officers found that gold was concealed in the undergarment of the passenger.

"The passenger concealed two gold bars, weighing 363 grams on body inside the specially made secret pocket on inner garment and misdeclared before the Customs Officials with an intention to evade the payment of customs duty," the official said, adding further investigations are underway.
