Customs officials today seized 467 grams of gold worth Rs 13.64 lakh from a passenger at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle in the yellow metal.
"Based on specific inputs, the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs at the airport seized 467 grams of gold of foreign origin valued at Rs 13.64 lakh from a passenger, who arrived from Muscat by Oman Airlines Flight," a official said.
The passenger had concealed the gold in the form of foils in between layers of corrugated box, the official said adding that after questioning the passenger, the precious metal was seized from him.
Further investigation is on.
