Sixty-two gold bars weighing about 7.2 kg of gold, valued at around Rs two crore, were seized by customs Department officials from two passengers who arrived here from from Dubai.
Officers of Air Intelligence Unit, Air Customs, intercepted the two passengers, both aged 31 years and residents of Kozhikode and Kannur while they were trying to 'escape' through the green channel after arriving from Dubai via Riyadh by a Saudi Airways flight, a customs release said.
They were intercepted at the exit gate of the Arrival Hall, on suspicion that they were carrying some contraband goods, it said.

32 gold bars, each weighing 116.64 grams, were concealed inside the coil of an AC Converter and the other 30 inside the battery of an UPS, the release said.
The gold bars were wrapped in carbon paper and adhesivecello tapes. The total gold seized is valued at about Rs two
crores (Market Value), it added.
