Gold worth Rs 22 lakh seized from Hyd airport

Customs officials today seized 784 gms gold worth Rs 22.5 lakh from two passengers in separate cases at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here.

In the first case, gold weighing 385 grams was seized from a passenger, who arrived here from the US via Dubai, a senior Customs official said.

In the second case, 399 grams of gold was seized from a passenger, who arrived from Sharjah.

Based on specific intelligence, Customs officials of the Air Intelligence Unit seized the yellow metal from the two persons, who were carrying it in the form of bracelets (kada), the official said.

Both the passengers are being questioned and further probe was on.
