Goldsmith carrier looted

Two motorcycle-borne youths looted silver ornaments and cash worth lakhs of rupees from a goldsmith carrier in Daresi area here today, police said.

The incident took place this afternoon when goldsmith carrier Umesh and his associate Hari were going towards Mathura Railway Junction on a scooter.

When they reached near Daresi in Govind Nagar police station area, they suddenly fell on the road. Before they could recover, two motorcycle-borne youths snatched their bag containing 28 kg silver ornaments and Rs 3.5 lakh in cash.

The duo told police that when they resisted the robbery bid, the criminals looted the bag at pistol point.
 

"Three teams have been formed to nab the culprits. We hope to nab them shortly as some clue has been found," Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Yadav said.
