Good Friday, the anniversary of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, was observed in the Christian-dominated state of Mizoram today with religious fervour and solemnity as praise and worship programmes were held in every locality and village.
According to the Christian belief, Christ was crucified to save the world from sin and doom so that mankind, condemned to death due to sin, would be redeemed.
Catholic Church members took out processions of the cross in Aizawl and other places and held mass to commemorate the sufferings of Christ on the cross.
Church bells rang all over the state as people went to their respective churches to worship and the priests and preachers delivered sermons about the sufferings of Christ to save the world.
