Goods train derails in Bihar

goods train derailed at a place between Bhabua-Durgawati railway stations in Bihar's Kaimur district, officials said today.

The goods train was on its way to Haduaganj from Dhanbad

rail division last night when 26 of its wagons jumped off the tracks near Durgawati Station causing damage to overhead power wires and track, ECR CPRO Amitabh Prabhakar said.

Route of more than 49 trains from Delhi to Howrah were diverted because of the derailment, he said.

29 passenger and mail trains were also cancelled, Prabhakar said.

Senior railway officials of Mughalsarai division, including DRM, are at the spot and cranes have been engaged to clear the tracks, he said.

 

A statutory enquiry has been ordered to find out reasons

leading to the derailment, he said.
