Goods train derails in C'garh, disrupts Mumbai-Howrah traffic

Two bogies of a goods train today derailed here leading to disruption of rail traffic on Mumbai-Howrah up and down line.

No one was reported hurt in the mishap.

"Two bogies of a cargo train going towards Nagpur from Raipur (up-line) derailed in Sarona area on the outskirts of Raipur," Raipur rail division PRO Ratan Basak said.

"However, no injuries were reported due to the incident," he said.

Senior officials from Raipur rail division rushed to the site, he said, adding that the movement of the trains is likely to resume on the route soon.

Senior officials have begun probe to ascertain the cause behind the accident, Basak said.
 

Owing to the mishap, four passenger trains have been cancelled while five trains were halted before reaching their respective destinations, he said.
