Derailment of the loco and 14 wagons of a goods train today in Andhra Pradesh led to disruption of services on a section of the South Central Railway (SCR).

The train loaded with rice coming from Mahasamund (Sambalpur Division of East Coast Railway) and heading towards Tirunelveli derailed near Manubolu between Nellore and Gudur stations in Andhra Pradesh.

The mishap led to obstruction of both up and down lines, hampering train services on the Vijayawada-Gudur section, SCR officials said here.

At least three passenger trains were cancelled, while as many were partially cancelled. Similarly, five other passenger trains were diverted.

Personnel and equipment were rushed from Chennai and Vijayawada to undertake track restoration work.

Long distance express trains on the affected route have been diverted.
