Machinery and goods worth over Rs 20 lakh were gutted in a fire that broke out in the warehouse of a factory in Tibbi here, police said today.
The cause of the fire was not yet known, they said.
The old machinery, packing material and goods were stored in the warehouse after the factory was shifted to new premises.
They said the fire broke out last night and it took around three hours to bring it under control.
S P Sethi, chairman of Fine Switchgears, as some material continued to smoulder overnight despite the efforts of the fire brigade, the blaze erupted this morning again.
The fire tenders had to be called to douse the flames, Sethi said.
The exact amount of loss was yet to be ascertained but the preliminary assessment puts it at over Rs 20 lakh, Sethi said.
