Internet giant Google today celebrated the 94th birth anniversary of Dr Verghese Kurien, the father of White Revolution, with a doodle for its India page.

Kurien, born in Kozhikode, Kerala, on November 26, 1921, transformed India from a milk-deficient country to the world's largest milk producer. The founder of Amul passed away on September 9, 2012 after a brief illness.

The doodle shows the 'milkman of India' with a can in his hand as a buffalo looks on.

Since last year, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has asked state dairy unions and federations to commemorate Kurien's birth anniversary as 'National Milk Day' to create awareness about dairy sector.

The NDDB spokesperson said that lectures, seminars and painting competitions were conducted across the country today.
