Search engine Google has paid homage to Latin music icon Selena Quintanilla with a special doodle.
It was on this day in 1989 that Quintanilla released her first studio album, titled 'Selena'.
One of the most celebrated Mexican-American performers in the late 20th century, she earned the title of Queen of Tejano music.

They sat with the designers, animators and Quintanilla's family to ensure the Doodle told the singer's story in a way that did justice to her true spirit, reported Billboard.
Quintanilla went on to release five more LPs, the last of which, "Dreaming of You" would be released posthumously in 1995.
The studio album debuted at No 1, her chart topper, on the Billboard 200.
Quintanilla died at the age of 23, when she was shot to death by Yolanda Saldivar, her friend and former manager of her Selena Etc boutiques on March 31, 1995.
