The latest Google Doodle commemorative logo pays tribute to ghazal king Jagjit Singh on his 72nd birthday today.
A drawing of Singh dressed in kurta-pajama sitting down with his harmonium is placed in the middle of the Google logo.
The legendary singer passed away in October 2011 due to brain haemorrhage.
According to Google Search Trends, the late singer also topped the list of popular singers in this genre.
In India, netizens of Ludhiana, Bhopal and Indore searched the most for queries related to Singh. Pankaj Udhas came in second place in his online popularity in India, whereas it was Ghulam Ali worldwide.
Globally, the Indian subcontinent searched the highest for Jagjit Singh, followed by Pakistan, Bangladesh and United Arab Emirates.
The top five ghazal singers globally are- Jagjit Singh, Ghulam Ali, Mehdi Hassan, Pankaj Udhas and Talat Aziz.
