Google's Arora resigns from Airtel board, D K Mittal inducted

Nikesh Arora, Internet search giant Google's India-born Chief Business Officer, has resigned as independent director from Bharti Airtel's board.

Arora has been replaced by Dinesh Kumar Mittal, a former bureaucrat who retired in 2013 as Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance. Arora served as an independent director with the company for five-and-a-half years.

The company said Mittal has been appointed as an Additional Director in the category of Independent Director.

Mittal, a 1977 batch UP cadre IAS officer, has also served as Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs in 2011 and Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce from 2009-2011.

Meanwhile in a senior level exit, Airtel's legal and regulatory head Jyoti Pawar has resigned from the company.
 

Pawar, who joined the country's largest telecom operator in 2008, is serving as Director - Legal and Regulatory (India and South Asia) and is also a member of the Airtel Management Board.

A company spokesperson though confirmed that Pawar has resigned from the company but refused to share more details on the development.

Pawar has also worked with GE Capital India as General Counsel till 2008.
