Google to offer live sports commentary panel for T20 cricket

Tech giant Google has added two new experimental features in Search -- content directly from cricket players, personalities and commentators and a live sports commentary panel -- to cash in on the T20 World Cup.

Users can search for cricket and ICC World Twenty20 related queries like 'T20' or team names during and after matches and they will see real-time commentary on the match from a range of cricket stars, Google said in a statement.

Curated content directly from players, teams and commentators like Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, RP Singh, Ankush Bains and others will be available throughout the ICC World T20, it added.

* Cognizant bags deal from Storebrand Group

IT services company Cognizant today said it has bagged a deal from Nordic insurance and banking firm Storebrand Group to help improve the latter's operational efficiencies, enhance customer experience and drive digital transformation.

Under the multi-year agreement, Cognizant will help Storebrand implement automate and modernise existing IT systems, re-engineer business processes across the customer life-cycle and develop digital platforms with advanced analytics capabilities, Cognizant said in a statement.

No financial details were disclosed.

Storebrand has 1.9 million individual customers, and is headquartered in Lysaker outside of Oslo, Norway. It manages over NOK 570 billion and is Norway's largest asset manager.

* CarDekho appoints Pawan Chawla as Head IT

CarDekho, an online automobile marketplace, today said it has appointed former IT head of Yatra Pawan Chawla to head its technology operations.

Chawla, who will spearhead CarDekho's overall IT infrastructure, has over 15 years experience across firms like Bertelsmann Marketing and American Home Mortgage Servicing.

* Ola upgrades Sedans to offer WiFi in Delhi,Bangalore & Mum

Transportation app Ola today said its that Sedan cabs in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore to offer Wi-fi services to its customers.

With this move, Ola users in these three cities will get the onboard 4G Wi-Fi when they book a Prime ride at the same fares as the erstwhile Sedan category, Ola said in a statement.

It added that over 20,000 sedans across these cities have been upgraded to Ola Prime.

Ola charges Rs 10 per km and Rs 1 as ridetime charge for Prime along with a base fare of Rs 100 (for 4 km).
* ShopClues to offer feature phones for Rs 399 onwards

E-commerce marketplace ShopClues today said it will offer feature phones starting Rs 399 as part of its online shopping festival.

"Shoppers has a lot to look forward to in terms of variety and competitive price points with this fest that will curate a special catalogue of low-end feature phones starting from only Rs 399," Shopclues said in a statement.

It will offer 52 different variants from seven brands, including Champion, IKall, Adcom, Forme and Kenxinda, it added.

* Snapdeal sees 1-mn bill payment, recharge transactions

E-commerce shopping platform Snapdeal today said it has registered over one million transactions on its Android and iOS mobile apps for bill payments and recharge in a month.

The service, which was launched last month, is powered by the in-app integration with FreeCharge. Snapdeal had acquired FreeCharge last year.

Over 60 per cent customers transacted more than once a month, while more than 55 per cent recharges came from non-metro areas, Snapdeal said in a statement.

* Wipro partners Schneider for smart city solutions

Country's third-largest software services firm Wipro today said it has partnered Schneider Electric to develop convergent solutions for India's smart cities.

Wipro and Schneider Electric will collaborate to enable the delivery of cost-effective and efficient citizen services to urban and rural communities, the companies said in a statement.

No financial details of the partnership were disclosed.

Both organisations will jointly develop solutions in the smart city space for India and global markets.

* Lenovo launches Vibe K5 Plus for Rs 8,499

Lenovo today launched its new smartphone -- Vibe K5 Plus -- priced at Rs 8,499 in the Indian market.

The device will go on sale on March 23, exclusively on e-commerce platform Flipkart.

The K5 Plus features a 5-inch display, 2GB RAM, 1.7 GHz octa-core processor, 16GB internal memory (expandable up to 128 GB), dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, 13 MP rear and 5 MP front camera and 2,750 mAh battery.
BSNL extends free roaming service by 1 year

* State-run telecom firm BSNL today extended its free roaming service by one more year enabling its mobile customers to receive calls at no extra cost while roaming.

"Public sector telecom giant, BSNL, has decided to extend 'Free National Roaming' facility to its mobile customers for another one year," BSNL said in a statement.

"The decision to extend the facility has been taken in view of overwhelming response of its customers in mobile number portability (MNP) and achieving highest growth of the customer in February and March months as per Trai report," BSNL Director for Consumer Mobility RK Mittal said.

Samco introduces zero balance trading account facility * Discount brokerage firm Samco has launched a zero balance trading account 'IntraPlus' for traders.

Through 'IntraPlus' account traders can initiate intra-day trades even if the cash balance in their trading accounts is zero, which is the first of its kind product in the Indian stock market, the company said in a statement today.

With IntraPlus, clients can pledge their shares and exchange traded funds (ETFs) of 801 approved stocks and get margins to trade across exchange segments.

Telenor selects mCarbon for emergency phone credit service * Telecom operator Telenor has selected value added service firm mCarbon for providing emergency credit facility, Tatkal Credit, of Rs 5 to its subscribers in case their balance falls below Rs 1.5.

"Tatkal Credit is an initiative by Telenor to ensure that our mass market subscribers are never out of recharge and are always connected," Telenor (India) Communications CEO Sharad Mehrotra said in a statement.

As part of this product, Telenor subscribers can avail a quick loan of Rs 5 in case their phone balance falls below Rs 1.50 by dialing a short code on their mobile or calling customer care.
