Uttar Pradesh government tonight suspended Gorakhpur SSP Anant Dev on charges of dereliction of duty and attached him to DGP headquarter in Lucknow, a senior home department official said.
Ram Lal Verma, posted in Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) Kanpur, has been sent to Gorakhpur in place of Dev, the official said.
The suspension comes after reports in a section of media of alleged attack on a Samajwadi Party leader's son there.
