Members of the Gorkha community today demanded representation from at least one of the 68 assembly segments in Himachal Pradesh which go to polls later this year.
Several from the community in the state have served the armed forces, but the Gorkhas have been ignored by all political parties, claimed a leader from the community Kapil Pradhan.
Neither the BJP nor the Congress have ever given a ticket to a Gorkha from the state. "We have selected Ravinder Rana, a retired bank officer, to represent the Dharamshala assembly segment. If the parties ignore us, we will fight on our own," he said.
The community is considering to hold a 'Ekta rally' on Sunday to gather support for their cause.
