Gorkhas in Himachal Pradesh today threatened to launch a nationwide agitation if the state BJP MLA Ravinder Ravi does not tender public apology for his "derogatory" remarks against the community.
"If Ravi does not tender public apology for his statement within a week, we will launch a nationwide agitation," Punjab and Himachal Gorkha Community president Bhupinder Singh Gurung said here.
Ravi, a former Himachal Pradesh minister and BJP MLA from Dehra constituency of Kangra district, had offered an "unusual" solution to tackle menace of monkeys and stray dogs - deploying Naga and Gorkha regiments in the state from time to time.
