Government appoints presiding officers for DRTs

Government has appointed eight presiding officers for various Debt Recovery Tribunals (DRTs) across the country.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of candidates to the post of presiding officers in various Debts Recovery Tribunals for a period of five years or till they attain the age of 62 years, an official release said today.

The committee has appointed three presiding officers for Chandigrah, and one each for Delhi, Lucknow, Nagpur, Pune and Patna.

A DRT presiding officer is equivalent to the rank of district and sessions judge.
