A Government high school Principal was today caught while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a peon here, Lokayukta Police said.

Kailash Sahu had demanded the bribe to approve the school peon's application to withdraw some amount from his Provident Fund, Lokayukta Inspector Prabhat Sahu said.

The peon, Sevak Ram, filed a complaint with Lokayukta Police, which laid a trap and caught the 50-year-old Principal while accepting the bribe money, he said.

The chief teacher of the school in Sawari Bazaar area has been booked under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigations are on.
