Governor asks Naga people to renew their thoughts

Nagaland Governor P B Acharya today called upon Naga people to renew their thoughts and re-dedicate themselves towards achieving socio-economic development of the state.

Addressing the mammoth gathering during the inaugural function of Hornbill Festival at Kisama in Kohima district, the Governor as the Chief Host said, "As we celebrate the Hornbill Festival, we must renew our thoughts and re-dedicate ourselves towards achieving socio-economic development of the state."

Things cannot change and improve on its own, we need to exert our utmost to improve things, Acharya said.

Asserting that there is enormous potential in Nagaland and the youth have potential and creativity, he said it needs to be channelised for productive purposes which will benefit not only the individual but the society as well.
 

Stating that Naga women are not lagging behind, he said "they also have to be politically empowered."

Acharya also stated that the government "must ensure that the resources available with us should be sensibly utilised to achieve the higher level of progress, balanced development and to improve the quality of life."

He said the Hornbill Festival, the 'festival of festivals', has made Nagaland one of the tourist destinations.

"This is a good sign and therefore, we must create a conducive environment for promotion of tourism industry in the state," the Governor said.

He also appealed to all stakeholders that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recently launched programmes such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Jan Dhan Yojana and toilet movement should be implemented in letter and spirit in the state.
