West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi today felicitated 55 NCC cadets from West Bengal and Sikkim for their outstanding performance in 2017-18.
Select cadets of Army, Navy, and the Air Force who excelled in various activities were awarded the Governor's Medal at the ceremony that was attended by a large number of proud parents and relatives, a Defence spokesman said.
The cadets excelled in activities like shooting, snap shooting, aero-modelling, sailing expedition and marching contingent, the spokesman added.

Recounting the achievements of the cadets, Maj Gen K T Sreekumar, ADG, WB and Sikkim Directorate, said that during the recent Republic Day camp held in New Delhi, West Bengal and Sikkim Directorate was adjudged fifth out of a total of 17 NCC participating contingents. This was an improvement of two notches over last year.
Cadets from this Directorate had won three gold, three silver and one bronze medal at the All India Mavlankar National Shooting Championships during the year, Sreekumar said.
