Governor, Lalu, Paswan condole loss of lives in train accident

Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan and RJD president Lalu Prasad today today condoled the death of over 100 people in the train accident in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur Dehat district.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the train accident, Governor Kovind, who hails from Kanpur Dehat, prayed for the peace of the departed souls and for speedy recovery of those injured in the accident, a Raj Bhawan release said.

Expressing sympathies for the families of those killed in the accident, RJD chief Lalu Prasad tweeted, "Deeply saddened to hear abt loss of lives due to derailing of Patna-Indore Express. My best prayers & thoughts wth injured & affected families."
 

Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said, "May the almighty give strength to the family members to overcome the loss of their near and dear ones."

Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi also expressed deep sorrow over the accident.

Over 115 passengers were killed and more than 200 injured, nearly half of them grievously, in the worst train accident in recent years when 14 coaches of the Indore-Patna Express derailed here in Kanpur rural area in the wee hours today due to suspected rail fracture.
