Governor K Rosaiah today led a host of leaders in greeting the people on the occasion of the New Year.
In a Raj Bhavan statement, Rosaiah extended his greetings and urged people to stay united to take India to greater heights in all spheres.
"May the dawn of new year remove the darkness of ignorance, strengthen the bonds of unity and bring in peace, progress and prosperity," he said.
In his new year greetings, DMK president M Karunanidhi took a dig at both the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu and the NDA government at Centre.
While the state was facing problems in the areas of power and prices, the Centre was focussing on issues like promoting Sanskrit and Hindi even as 'Hindutva' policies were being promoted, he said in a statement.
With state Assembly elections due in 2016, Karunanidhi made a call for joining hands to lift Tamil Nadu from its 'setbacks' and extended his New Year greetings.
DMDK founder and Opposition Leader in Tamil Nadu Assembly, Vijayakant, PMK founder S Ramadoss, MDMK's Vaiko and TNCC president EVKS Elangovan also extended their New Year greetings.
