Recalling his contribution towards development of state, Vohra, in his message, described Sheikh as one of the tallest political figures of his times who worked with the likes of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru for strengthening values of secularism and democracy.
The Governor recalled Sheikh's commitment to safeguarding the pluralistic ethos of the state at the time of country's partition.
Vohra also referred to historic land reforms and schemes like Rehbar-i-Sehat and single line administration introduced by the leader, which helped in placing the state on the path of growth and development.
The best way to remember Sheikh will be to work for strengthening deep-rooted secular traditions of the state and restoring bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood and amity, Vohra noted.
