West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi today stressed the need for education to train students to understand that "the end of education is character."

"If Bharat has to revive its former glory and become one of the first ranking nations, the way ahead is only through such an educational system which will train students to understand that the end of education is character," the Governor said.

Tripathi was speaking while inauguratng the 7th All India conference for Principals of Bhavan's Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools - 2016.

"Educational leaders have to train the children for the vicissitudes of life. Train them that physical science is objective and can't lead to absolute truth but spiritual science or Brahma Vidya can lead to absolute truth," the Governor said.

"If the spiritual mortality of Bharat is destroyed, the world will sink into utter ruin," the Governor observed.

Calling upon the principals of all Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Schools to enshrine the cultural, ethical and moral values in the minds of students in their schools, he said that "a good faculty is the backbone of an institution."

"It is the work of the principals to guide the faculty to train the children who are the assets of the nation to serve their motherland," he added.
