Governor wishes "Poila Baisakh" to all Bengalis

West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan wished a happy and a prosperous "Poila Baisakh" on the eve of the Bengali New Year's day.

"Poila Baisakh marks the beginning of the Bengali New Year. People in all walks of life celebrate this occasion with pomp and gaiety irrespective of caste, creed and religion," said Narayanan in his message today.

"On this auspicious occasion let us resolve to work for the peace and prosperity of our nation and reaffirm our commitment to the country's unity and integrity," he said.

"I convey my heartiest greetings to the people of West Bengal and Bengalis all over the country as also abroad, on this occasion and wish them a happy, prosperous and joyful new year," said Narayanan.
