Governors exchange ideas on improving quality of education

Governors from eight states exchanged ideas on improving the quality of higher education in the country at the first meeting of the Committee of Governors constituted by President Pranab Mukherjee.

The panel was constituted by the President to discuss the role of governor as chancellor of educational institutions in improving the quality of higher education.

The meeting held at Raj Bhawan was chaired by Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan, an official spokesperson said.

Bihar Governor Dr D Y Patil, Jagannath Pahadiya (Haryana), Nikhil Kumar (Kerala), Bharat Vir Wanchhoo (Goa), Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung (Delhi), Lt Governor Virendra Kataria (Puducherry) and Lt Governor Lt Gen Ajay Kumar Singh (Andaman and Nicobar Islands) were present at the meeting.
 

The Committee of Governors will present its report to the President, he said.
