Former RSS ideologue K N Govindacharya today moved the Election Commission seeking maintenance of a separate record of remittance made to internet companies and advertising agencies for political advertisement to prevent misuse of blackmoney in Lok Sabha polls.
In a memorandum submitted to the Election Commission, Govindacharya, along with activists Jagdish Shettigar and P V Rajagopal said the Finance Ministry and the Reserve Bank of India should be directed to ensure separate tabulation of all transactions and remittance to internet companies, social media sites and advertising agencies towards political advertisements.
"Many a times money is paid by foreign supporters directly to internet companies towards election campaigning in India, which needs to be probed through Enforcement Directorate and other agencies. Besides minimising use of blackmoney, such action will restrict paid news through social media for election purposes," the memorandum said.
It claimed that "foreign forces" may try to attempt and influence the electoral process through various internet companies.
