Replying to a question by BJP member Dilip Singh Rawat in the state Assembly, Health Minister S S Negi said there are huge vacancies against the sanctioned posts in the Health Department but serious efforts are underway to fight the problem and the results will be visible late next year.
He said the state government is trying to fill the vacancies as rapidly as possible through walk-in-interviews and the public service commission and the paucity of doctors will soon be overcome in the state.
Against 2,422 sanctioned posts for allopathic doctors, there are 1,182 vacancies in the state.
The sanctioned posts for Ayurvedic doctors are 759 whereas the vacancies are 300.
Meanwhile, the vacancies for Homoepathic doctors are 22 against 107 sanctioned posts in the category.
